Constructivism's Influence

Article Review
“Reggio Emilia’s approach to learning grows in KC”

The constructivist model has been attributed with providing the framework for influencing or affirming successes in other similar learning methods which holds true with the immerging Reggio Emilia approach. It is as a community-based learning design that erupted in Reggio Emilia, Italy post World War II that was developed based on the need for rebuilding their society through the educating of their youngest population. (http://www.aquinas.edu/education/certification/reggio_emilia.html)This early childhood system had not been established prior to this proposal by their community.  Reggio Emilia has been making headway and headlines in the US where progressive prekindergarten curriculums are being recognized for their contributions to preparing children for kindergarten at an exceptional level of readiness. This learning perspective has the active and collaborative learning demonstrated in constructivism where it is intended to mimic the mode of how we socialize in reality as opposed to the sterile transmission of information.
